The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute obesity
guidelines proposes the use of the body mass index
(BMI). To determine BMI, weight in kilograms is divided by
height in meters, squared. To calculate the body mass index,
insert the weight in pounds and select the height. Click on
the Compute button to see the body mass index.
A BMI
of 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight and over 30 or above is
considered obese.
